Australia imposes sanctions on Israeli settlers and youth group over violent attacks on Palestinians

Australia has imposed financial sanctions and travel bans on seven Israelis and a youth group who Canberra says have been involved in violent attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank. The foreign minister, Penny Wong, says Israel has received a lot of support globally, urging its government to “recognise the importance of its standing and legitimacy in the international community”. She says settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal under international law and a “significant obstacle to peace in the Middle East”. Meta removes 63,000 Instagram accounts in Nigeria linked to sextortion scams

Meta has removed about 63,000 Instagram accounts used in attempts to directly engage in financial sextortion schemes, along with thousands of Facebook groups providing tips on how to scam people online. Sexual extortion, or sextortion, involves scammers tricking or coercing someone into sending explicit photos online. They then threaten to make the images public unless the victim pays to stop them.
